We realise, that as a new offshore industry, the offshore renewable energy market needs the experience gained in years of offshore construction to help carry out operations in safe and cost effective manner, utilising the right people, the right equipment at the right time. Seateam can provide this experience.
Seateam have also been researching and developing a tidal flow/river current turbine based on a Savonious Rotor. Unlike most subsurface turbines, which can only be mounted vertically, our device can be mounted vertically or horizontally due to the design of the turbine blades.This also means that it can be installed in shallower waters and can be utilised in the open sea, rivers, or lakes if there is a sufficient water flow.
Although still in the early development stages, a small scale prototype has been constructed though not trialled at present.
It is anticipated that on site testing should take place during 2008 / 2009 with the assistance of a local renewables support group.
